Healthy lifestyle habits
A healthy lifestyle is not just about what you put in your body or how often you hit the gym. It is about forming little everyday practices that support your body and your mind and that, in turn, support your overall well-being.
The good news is you don’t have to go from 0 to 100 right away. In this piece we will look at ten very doable but very powerful habits that will have you feeling better, living longer, and enjoying life more starting today.
Let’s get into the healthy habits you can begin today.
….
1. Begin your day with a glass of water:
Upon waking from a full night’s sleep, your body is dehydrated. Upon rising out of bed, try a glass of water to rehydrate, flush out toxins, and get your metabolism going.
Also, throw in some lemon for a mild detox and a dose of vitamin C. It is a little effort, but it sets a positive tone for the rest of the day.
2. Focus on whole foods and not processed ones:
Your health does best with real food. Whole items like fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, which in turn will keep you full of energy and health.
Out of the homemade choices, go for the unprocessed options, sweet treats, and fast food. Also, try to prepare most of your meals at home and pay attention to what is in the food labels. A clean plate is a step to a clean mind.
3. Go for 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
Sleep is a health component that is often ignored. It has a role in repairing the body and improving immune function, and in turn it improves memory and attention.
Establish a bedtime routine that tells your body it is time to wind down, get out of the blue light, make your room cool and dark, and go to bed at the same time each night.
4. Move Your Body Every Day.
You may not need to do trying workouts in order to be healthy. For 30 minutes, go out, go to yoga, stretch out, or go to a drain with some music in your room.
Regular physical activity also increases your energy, better you in a good mood, and reduces the risk of issues such as diabetes and heart disease. Do what you enjoy – the key to sticking with it.
5. Practice Presence or Meditation.
Mental health is similar to physical health. For 5 to 10 minutes a day, you can sit quietly, study the breath, or use the attention application, which in turn will reduce your stress, improve your attention and feel more peacefully. Also, during a break at work or before going bed, try to do it in the morning.
6. Reduce your smoking and alcohol intake.
Sure, We go into this knowing what we are getting into. What we put in our bodies via smoking and heavy drinking will, over time, affect our heart, lungs, liver, and brain.
If you are having trouble putting down what you are putting in, to which that is fine, go see a health professional or join a support group. Also of note is that trading in bad habits for good ones, like a workout or a creative hobby, also helps to reduce the urge.
7. Drink up all day.
Water is a key player in all body functions, including digestive and brain function. Try to go to at least 6 to 8 glasses a day, which may be more if you are active.
Also, carry a reusable water bottle around as a reminder. Herbs in tea form and produce that are high in water content, like cucumbers and oranges, are also a good option.
8. Reduce Screen Time Also at Night.
Too much screen time in the evening is an issue with sleep quality and also leaves you feeling worn out. I suggest you set a “digital out of office” an hour before bed and put away your phone, TV, or laptop. Instead, try a book, journaling, or some light stretching. Your mind will thank you.

Keeping regular daily routines is to reduce stress, improve attention, and even in the evening to level your energy. Go to bed and get up at the same time every day, as you do for food and work.
Also, if you are working from home or freelancer that can be very flexible, setting up routine will bring it to structure and balance.
10. Surround yourself with positivity.
Surrounding yourself with certain people and content will in turn affect your mental health. Put out time for those that lift you up, follow which social media accounts you find inspiring, and stay away from drama and negativity.
Also, note that the environment you put yourself in will either drain you or will help you grow.
